Legislative & Political Affairs Director

Wilmington Regional Association of REALTORS® and Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association

A new corporation serving the Wilmington Regional Association of REALTORS® and the Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association, with two other REALTOR® and one home builder association as partners, is accepting resumes for the position of Legislative & Political Affairs Director. The position requires a minimum of bachelor's degree in political science, planning, public administration or related field.

Applicants should be creative, self-motivated and have effective oral and written communication skills, ability to maintain working relationships with members, elected officials, boards and commissions, agency/municipal staff and the public, and strong research, computer and analytical skills. Work is performed independently and requires considerable judgment and initiative, problem solving skills and consensus-building ability. Occasional attendance at night meetings required.

Description of duties:

Monitor, review and analyze proposed ordinances, regulations, rules
Research and draft comments/positions on proposed legislation/regulation
Communicate positions to agencies, the public and the media
Develop and maintain relationships with federal, state, local agencies, municipalities and elected officials
Represent the associations on various committees and task forces and provide resource support to volunteers serving in these capacities
Keep members informed of proposed and adopted legislation/regulation.
Responsible for both associations PACs and assists in candidate endorsement and get-out-the-vote campaigns
