Legislative & Political Affairs Director

Wilmington Regional Association of REALTORS® and Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association

A new corporation serving the Wilmington Regional Association of REALTORS® and the Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association, with two other REALTOR® and one home builder association as partners, is accepting resumes for the position of Legislative & Political Affairs Director. The position requires a minimum of bachelor's degree in political science, planning, public administration or related field. 

Applicants should be creative, self-motivated and have effective oral and written communication skills, ability to maintain working relationships with members, elected officials, boards and commissions, agency/municipal staff and the public, and strong research, computer and analytical skills. Work is performed independently and requires considerable judgment and initiative, problem solving skills and consensus-building ability.  Occasional attendance at night meetings required.

Description of duties:

  • Monitor, review and analyze proposed ordinances, regulations, rules
  • Research and draft comments/positions on proposed legislation/regulation
  • Communicate positions to agencies, the public and the media
  • Develop and maintain relationships with federal, state, local agencies, municipalities and elected officials
  • Represent the associations on various committees and task forces and provide resource support to volunteers serving in these capacities
  • Keep members informed of proposed and adopted legislation/regulation.
  • Responsible for both associations PACs and assists in candidate endorsement and get-out-the-vote campaigns
