Legislation giving builders the opportunity to repair damages before being sued has been signed by governors in nine states: Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Montana, Nevada and West Virginia. In Alaska and South Carolina, legislation is awaiting the governors’ signatures, and bills are still active in Illinois, Missouri, Ohio and Oregon.
