Historical Housing Industry Publication The new report presents snapshots of housing through time, including typical home designs and statistics through the years. It also charts 50 years of housing milestones, starting with the historic Housing Act of 1949, which established for the first time the national goal of a “a decent home and a suitable living environment for every American family” and designated the private sector as the means of achieving that goal. The report is available free of charge at www.NAHB.org (type “Century of Progress” in the search field) or contact David Washington. Home Builders Care Project of the Year Award Download additional entry guidelines and the official entry form from the Public Relations Resources section of the Public Affairs Committee pages on www.nahb.org/publicaffairs. Projects will be evaluated based on whether they provided a needed service in the community; effectively promoted the goal of providing safe, decent, affordable housing; succeeded in motivating NAHB members or company staff to participate; had a positive impact on the beneficiaries; was creative; met project goals; and whether it is sustainable in subsequent years. To be considered, projects must have been started, in progress or completed between January 1 and October 15, 2003.
