Welcome to the First Issue of Building Futures
As we closed 2003, we open 2004 with a bang. It is my pleasure to introduce you to Building Futures, the official online newsletter of the NAHB Student Chapters. It is meant to keep you informed on recent news and developments taking place in and around the NAHB Student Chapters program. You can expect Building Futures to arrive in your e-mail inbox five times a year. In this first issue you will find a summary of the 2003 Student Chapters happenings and a glance into 2004 and the future. I encourage you to forward this e-mail on to friends and colleagues who have not received this publication.

Last year brought great developments to the Student Chapters program — an increased and expanded membership, enhanced benefits, and record attendance to the International Builders’ Show (IBS), to name a few. In fact, there were more than 1,300 students and faculty in attendance at the 2003 IBS. We expect to break that record this year. Our membership has expanded to include the HBI students at the Westover Job Corps Center, in Chicopee, MA. This is the first time that HBI trainees on Job Corps campuses have joined Student Chapters and we are certain that in 2004 this trend will continue.

I am happy to witness the success of NAHB Student Chapters and I will continue to work with my colleagues, NAHB Student Chapters staff, and all of the students who make this program so special, to ensure that the accomplishments we have achieved thus far continue for years to come.

Sincerely,

Jim Gronski
