Letter from the President of HBI
I would like to be the first to welcome you to the 2004-2005 school year. Dust off your backpacks and sharpen your pencils because it is certain to be another exciting year for NAHB Student Chapters.

I am happy to report that while you were enjoying your summer vacation, NAHB has been hard at work. As you may know, the current President of NAHB, Bobby Rayburn, has made it a personal goal to assist communities in providing housing for America’s working families. As part of this goal, NAHB has joined Fannie Mae to develop “Housing America’s Workforce Initiative,” a program geared toward finding new ways to create affordable housing for the nation’s wage-earning families. This is but one important project NAHB has undertaken in recent months.

As we begin another school year, I encourage you to explore the many areas in which your NAHB Student Chapter is supporting the industry and the nation. What does your Chapter do on a local level to house America’s working families? HBI plans to highlight such activities in 2004-2005, so be sure to keep us informed.

I wish you the best of luck with your classes and look forward to seeing you the many events for students  held during the 2005 International Builders' Show  in Orlando, FL.

Sincerely,

Fred Humphreys
