Freddie Mac and NAHB Student Chapters' 'A Day at the Job Site'

The NAHB Student Chapters program has secured funding from Freddie Mac to coordinate A Day at the Job Site linking NAHB Student Chapter high school students, HBAs and the community to help build homes for America’s working families.

NAHB Student Chapters staff has identified two locales in the Mid-Atlantic to host the event. Builders Association of Metro Pittsburgh (BAMP) and the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Southside Virginia have already begun organizing events with local schools. BAMP plans to incorporate four of the NAHB Student Chapters they sponsor for the event scheduled in the spring of 2005. HBA of Southside Virginia will be working with one of its chapters, Colonial Heights High School, as a meeting spot for other area chapters to participate in A Day at the Job Site.

The participating HBAs — BAMP and HBA of Southside Virginia — will be working on projects for economically disadvantaged, low-income or other related community-development effort.  Furthermore, students will be provided with NAHB Student Chapters/Freddie Mac t-shirts and all the necessary protective equipment including hard hats, eye-wear, gloves and the like.  In addition, the events will allow for Freddie Mac representatives to address the students as well as school and HBA representatives.
