Edmond G. Snider Jr. Beazer Homes Scholarship Awarded

In an event held September 19 in Dallas, TX,  Julie Krebs of Texas A&M University was awarded the first Edmond G. Snider, Jr. Beazer Homes Scholarship.

The $5,000 scholarship, created to honor Ed Snider’s memory and life long accomplishments as an educator, was presented to Julie along with a commemorative plaque by Ian McCarthy, President and CEO of Beazer Homes.

Julie, who is in her senior year as a Construction Science major at Texas A&M University has maintained an overall GPA of 3.5 and a 3.72 GPA in her major. In addition, Julie works to pay college expenses and has still found time to participate in a number of extra-curricular activities that both increase her knowledge in the field and serve the community.

“For many reasons, Julie represents the caliber of candidate that we believe is deserving of the Edmond G. Snider, Jr. Beazer Homes Scholarship Award” says McCarthy.

Snider worked closely with Home Builders Institute programs, particularly the NAHB Student Chapters, serving on its advisory board and as a judge in the residential construction competitions.  His efforts over the years helped earn Beazer Homes the NAHB Student Chapters' Distinguished Service Award last year.

"Ed was a lively and energetic friend who loved what he did and loved helping student members through his involvement in the NAHB Student Chapters," said Mark Hutchings, construction management professor at Brigham Young University and former chair of the Student Chapters Advisory Board.
