Letter from the Chair
I hope this newsletter finds you doing well in your coursework this spring semester. By now you should have all recovered from a whirlwind 2006 International Builders’ Show. Now that we are all settled back into our daily routines of class, studying and chapter activities, I think it’s important to highlight the advantages of being a proactive student in your chapter.
The benefits of NAHB Student Chapter membership can be as great or as few as
you make them. It is truly up to you to make sure you are taking advantage of all the benefits of your membership. For starters, it’s not too early to be planning chapter activities for the spring and fall. Be sure to connect and stay tuned into your local home builder association activities.
Now is the time to start thinking about your applications for Outstanding Student Chapter, Outstanding Educator and the like. The return on your investment into chapter activities will not only further enhance your experience but can result in scholarships and funding for you and your chapter.
As you will see in the coming months, the Advisory Board is working hard to ensure that the benefits for students are both valuable and useful. For example, be sure to look into the many scholarship opportunities that the National Housing Endowment offers. Also, you will soon receive a flyer in the mail for the new Sales+Marketing Channel of NAHB.org, being offered to student members free of charge in 2006.
Take the time to think about what you will do to make the most of your NAHB Student Chapter membership, and take full advantage of all it has to offer.
Sincerely,
Douglas Cron
