Letter from the Chair
As the NAHB Student Chapter membership continues to grow, so do the programs we offer students. The 2007 International Builders' Show marked the most active IBS for NAHB Student Chapters yet, with more than 2,000 students and faculty in attendance. Please visit the NAHB Student Chapters website regularly to stay informed on new programs.
As a NAHB Student member, you are not only affiliated with your peers and local Home Builders Association, but with one of the most powerful federations in the United States. I hope that each of you, individually and collectively, continue to build on the momentum established at IBS and take advantage of all the benefits of your membership.
It’s never too early to begin thinking about your Chapter activities for the spring and fall. Application season is approaching and the National Housing Endowment has plenty of scholarships that you may be eligible for. Also, you may start compiling your applications for Outstanding Student Chapter, Outstanding Educator, etc. The return on your investment into chapter activities will not only further enhance your experience but can result in funding for you and your chapter.
The Advisory Board will be working equally hard to ensure that the benefits for students are both valuable and useful. We will be meeting in June during NAHB’s Spring Board of Directors meeting in Washington DC, to discuss how we can further improve the Student Chapters program.
Please take the time to think about what you will do to make the most of your NAHB Student Chapter membership, and take full advantage of all it has to offer. Feel free to drop us an email with your suggestions about the program.
Sincerely,
Bill Lemke
Chair, NAHB Student Chapters Advisory Board
